Software used to Search for homes online
Tuesday, October 21st, 2008Everyone knows that when potential homebuyers begin to look for homes, they turn to the internet. There are many websites out there that utilize an IDX feed from their local listing office. For a successful site, it’s all about how fast that information can be processed. Many of the sites today use some sort of framed, cookie cutter solution that is usually VERY SLOW. If I came across a site like that, I wouldn’t stay to use it. If you are searching an area that has 20k+ listings, an overloaded solution just isn’t going to cut it.
A solution that I found that worked great was used for searching Charlotte real estate and from what I could tell had over 30k listings. Timothy Cline Realty’s home search was fast and efficient. They boast a unique solution on a dedicated server. The site is powered by the open source content management system, Open Realty which was created by Transparent Technologies.
I’m pretty impressed with this solution, and would suggest it as a model to follow for anyone looking to break the standard framed solutions that seem to plague the internet.
